It ROCKED!!!!

I had a BLAST today.  I ended up running with 4 other women.  We waited for each other and encouraged each other along the way.  We weren't the speediest of runners, but we are happy and had fun and got muddy... like REALLLLLY muddy.
Things I did not expect:  two pull up rungs on the 8 (really 10) foot wall (SWEET!), the ability to get over every obstacle, having to go underwater.
Things I did expect: the water to be FREEZING!!!!  (didn't make it better!)  To take like an hour to finish...

There were people that finished in under 30 minutes, which was a little insane to me (and i kinda wanted to kick them in the knees....) but whatever.  I finished, I didn't throw up, no injuries... that was my goal.

Tomorrow's the Day

I will run my first 5k in manymanymany years.  My goal is to complete it. I ran a 10.39/mile 5k earlier this week.  No way will I do that tomorrow as there are those pesky obstacles in my way.  I'm stressed over what to wear (as it will not be warm and, ya know, wet) and what I"m going to eat in the morning (as my blender blew up and eating is so over rated in the morning time... it takes SO much time...heheheee) and my running partner got a start time of 9:06 and mine isn't until 9:21 (WTF????) I feel like it's the first day of school all over again.  What if I pee myself, or throw up, or fall over into the fetal position and refuse to get up, or worst case scenario... I break something?!?!?!?
My goal is to simply finish.  I have no time to beat in my head.  I have no one thing I feel I MUST accomplish other than finishing the dang thing.
I will eventually post pictures and whatnot.  I have 87203487 pictures on my camera right now and it's bugging me, but so is the fact that picasa now uploads straight to G+ and I don't like that at all!!!!!  stupid stupid heads. hmph.
So here goes nothing... and everything!

drum roll please

yeah, i did it.  i'm going to run a 5k. it's a mud run too.  so watch out!  i try to run a couple times a week and zumba 2-3 times a week.  i have also started drinking a smoothie every morning in place of breakfast and cutting my caloric intake to less than 1500 calories a day.  does this always happen?  hell no.  but i am ALMOST to the point where i would feel comfortable in a two piece... but ya know. i really really really will post a pic sometime.  it's hard to get a picture of myself these days. but until then... my new running mix, that knocks time off my run every time!!

sigh.. but yay!

So due to sickness (the kids, not me) I have had the worst time getting to the gym or running or really anything. Sigh.  And the next two weeks are sucking just as much.  Alas.
HOWEVER, I went jeans shopping today and (DRUMROLL PLEASE!) I am now wearing a size 9... with NO spandex included in the jeans!!  I was wearing a 10 or a 12 with spandex in the jeans giving them a little extra stretch.  So while I am not seeing a huge difference on scale, it's nice to know that SOMETHING is happening, somewhere!  Hopefully it will only continue to get better.  I will try to run at least twice this week and do Zumba once (and I'm gonna add weights again... made it through 20 minutes of one workout before getting rid of the weights... my goal is 30 minutes of the next one!)
So happy!  Will post a picture soon!

back to the running...

So since the boy child has started school, doing things in the afternoon have led to some distress in life.  So, Zumba in the afternoon has to go.  Which means I have to fill Monday and Wednesday with SOMETHING.  My friend Nichole suggested kettlebell.  So I thought, sure, why not.  hmph.
I dropped the girl off at school and headed to the gym, since the day was nice, I decided to actually run before this kettlebell thing and thought it would be nice to run outside.  I walked .25 miles as a warm up, and ran 2 twelve minute miles, then walked another .5 miles as a cool down.  I was pretty impressed since I haven't run since July.  So I went into the gym all cocky.  Sure I can do Kettlebell.  Nichole tells me to pick a weight with a 4 on the bottom.  I obliged but giggled to myself that surely we should do the 6 next time. Then got to class.  WHATEVER.  So this is what people do that hate themselves.  I'm SO glad that Nichole told me to get the 4...wondering if they actually make a 2.  hmmm.  Anyway, there was swinging and squatting and lifting and then when that was all over there was sitting up and punching and crunching and bicycling... hmph.  whatever.  stupid no zumba in the morning times.
Anyway, I made it through.  My leg have stopped communicating with the rest of my body.  I really hope there is nothing urgent in which I need to run after something today.  The IB is waiting to be taken before bed so that I have a chance to go back to my beloved Zumba in the morning.  But I will do it all again on Wednesday.  Not because I'm a glutton, but because I want my arms and back (and abs) to be stronger.  So alas.  I run, I Zumba, and I Kettlebell.

ZUMBA!!!!

Okay, I'm addicted.  I went five days in a row this past week and plan on doing 5 days this week as well.  I am burning around 500+ calories in an hour class and sweat a TON!  So for now, I'm putting running on hold until it's cool enough to run outside again.  LOVE it!!  I will get a pic up next week for sure!

Maybe a break from running?

Today I took a Zumba class!  I'm so addicted.  Frankly, it's 30 more minutes than I run and I think that I burn at least as many calories, etc.  We'll see.  I"m going again tomorrow afternoon and again Saturday morning.  I"ll re-evaluate after the weekend and see if going back to running is a better option.
I may alternate once school is in session.  Again, we'll see.
But seriously, massive amounts of sweat exited my body.  That's a good thing right?
